Attitude Can Make Relationships Work
Relationships require regular emotional investments over time. They aren’t instant. We can’t just add water and stir. That’s why I invest time daily in getting better in this area. It’s not easy.
People’s behavior can be frustrating. My friend John Maxwell describes it this way. “People show up at the wrong place at the wrong time for the wrong reason. They are always interesting but always charming. They are not always predictable because they have minds of their own. You can’t get along with them and you can’t make it without them.” That’s why it is essential to build proper relationships with others. We are all each other have.
When our attitude places others first and if we see people as important, then our perspective will reflect their viewpoint not ours. Choosing to look at life from the other person’s place can change everything regarding our ability to work with and influence people.
The results have been proven. Stanford Research Institute says that the money a person makes in any project or endeavor is determined only 12.5 percent by what we know (knowledge). What’s the rest of it. 87.5 percent is determined by your ability to deal with people.
That’s why Teddy Roosevelt said, “The most important single ingredient to the formula of success is knowing how to get long with people.”
And industrialist, John D Rockefeller said, “I will pay more for the ability to deal with people than any other ability under the sun.”
