Jody Victor Travel News, Horizons, is featuring New Orleans Convention Business after Katrina.
New Orleans is a popular place for organizations and businesses to hold conventions. Unfortunately prime season for conventions is September through October and May through June. Hoteliers and meeting planners are scrambling to determine how Katrina will affect its scheduled convention business. There are going to be lots of challenges but everyone will work hard to get back on track. The Omni Royal Orleans is expecting to be able to accommodate groups after Labor Day. The hotel suffered mostly wind damage and some rooms got wet when the wooded balcony doors blew off. The hotel was contacting guests with upcoming reservations to tell them not to expect to get into the city until Thursday due to road conditions and flight cancellations. New Orleans and the surrounding area will have many months of recovery but the sooner they can get business back on track the better.
